For those of you that took the NBME tests before Step I, how did your actual score correlate with the NBME exam? I'm talking about the exams available for $45 on the NBME website.

Don't you OMFS guys just have to pass, I know the guys at my school that's all they have to do since they are already in med school/residency.

Yup...just have to pass. Thank god. It sucks studying for this thing during my intern year--not that it's ever fun. We don't do any of second year. We have our intern year with OMFS, take the Step during, then start MIII July I.

I had heard that there was a high correlation of NBME to USMLE, but I couldn't find anything about it in the threads. That's why I ask.

Don't ever let a dental student fool you into believing that Part I of the dental board are similar. They cover similar subject areas, but the depth of questioning isn't remotely close to the Step.

I think if you go to the usmle step 1 forum and do a search there was a thread on this last year. I'll tell you mine the NBME basic sci self assesment that my school gave us under predicted my score by 14 (2 month out). Of the forms that you pay for form A under predicted by 7 points (10 days out), form B under by 2 points (5 days out). Hope that helps.

Geez...took that b*tch today (the real one). That was PAINFUL! I hope my scores correlate to what I got on the NBME ones, because it doesn't feel like they're going to.
