Hi there folks!

After looking through all the NBME discussions and saw there is no recent one regarding which nbme to start your journey!

I am in my 3rd year and I am going to take step 1 at the end of my 4th, I am considering the following:

1.how much NBME should I do (having so much time-nevertheless discontinues).
2.With which one should I start?
3. Should I start with an NBME or with the Kaplan diagnostic test!

Thank you folks for helping me out!

In terms of which NBME to do first, it doesn't matter that much. They're all pretty similar. I took them in numerical order, all during my dedicated prep time. But I honestly think it's a waste of the resource to take any NBMEs so far in advance of your test date.

I'm about 2 weeks into my dedicated studying. I took a practice NBME before starting and I was wondering if now is a good time to take a practice one to see if I'm studying correctly. Do you think this would be a good time? If so, should I just pick any one of the forms?

If I were you, I'd wait until I had made at least one quick pass through all of First Aid. And then just pick any NBME from 12 to 18 - or do one of the UWSA tests. I did both UWSAs first and did all of the NBMEs during the second half of my dedicated study period.

So bottom line you guys suggest doing 1 in the beginning of my dedicated period and then other ones as I go along for self checking myself?

Maybe another proper question would be:
1. How should I use the NBME, what is my purpose when doing them
- diagnostic tool
- learning tool (learning the structure of the exam)
if the second option is valid, then how much of them are proper? (considering I am having 10 months of discontinued time)

That's my plan. I took one before i started to see how much i know and what i really need to work on. Now I'm going to take one sometime within the next week or so to see if I'm studying correctly.

To break it down:
- you took 1 before
- you take 1 now after 2 weeks?

what is your overall study period?

Anyone else can post his opinion an experience folks?
I read a lot of the "my step 1 experience" but I am still unsure and undecided.
