I limited myselft to one school this time and ended up on their alternate list.

So, I need some suggestions on a handful of schools I can start researching.

I can find the schools on my own, but I figure with such a great forum to find suggestions/first hand experience, this would be a great place to start.

Some of my criteria:

Somewhat affordable cost of living, tuition.
Option of gaining residency after living there for a year.
Great clinic opportunity/experience with opportunities for specializing in Oral/Max or Ortho.
Family friendly environment.
I can qualify for Wiche.

I am sure I will post some more later.

Your suggestions are appreciated!!

Sounds like your talking about UNLV!

Minus the specialty, but I hear they will be organizing postdoc programs in the future.

In regards to Arizona:

Somewhat affordable cost of living, tuition.
Tuition is the second cheapest of private schools (but still expensive). Cost of living is ridiculously low.

Option of gaining residency after living there for a year.
Private school, so not possible/doesn't make a difference.

Great clinic opportunity/experience with opportunities for specializing in Oral/Max or Ortho.
Our 4th years are spent doing rotations that YOU set up (if you want to). Interested in OMS? Then set up 6 month-long rotations at hospitals throughout the US, or in London, or anywhere. Know an OMS in your hometown that you shadowed? Contact him and see if you can rotate through his office for a month or two.

Family friendly environment.
It's Arizona. 5 million people in an urban area that it so sprawling that it feels like a desert (oh wait, it is a desert).

I can qualify for Wiche.
Arizona is the first school in the history of WICHE to qualify for WICHE without graduating a class. Qualifying for WICHE brings your tuition to ~$12,000 a year.

first of all, apply to all your in-state public schools.
where are you from?
and what stats do you have?
pls give us more info.

Gavin,

Who pays for such adventures? London? That is great!
