Good afternoon all!,

This is the first time using the SDN. I am currently at a cross-roads in my application. Please let me give you some of my background and hopefully I will be able to receive some sound advice from you all (thank you in advance):

Major: Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Undergrad GPA: 3.35 CUM (3.3 Science) (I know this is a weakness)
first MCAT: 24

It was a difficult road for me starting college. I was the victim of domestic violence and it took me a very long time to overcome poor self-confidence and gain strength.

After graduating and taking the time to heal myself, I achieved a 34 on the MCAT and I am directing a hospital laboratory while training residents, nurses, and instructing ACLS/BLS. My job is very involved and more detailed than a simple explanation.

I applied again to many med schools, but not one interview, even with many powerful recommendations....now I need some advice please...A TRADITIONAL POST-BACC PROGRAM or a MASTERS PROGRAM (my hospital will pay in part for a master's in pharmacology/toxicology). I know the GPA needs to improve, but how?

My application is full of research work, clinical experience, volunteer work, etc. and now I am working on 4 publications which will hopefully help.....ANY ADVICE?

Thank you all again. Best of wishes in your endeavors! :luck:

GPA is too low for MD programs. The outstanding 2nd MCAT won't make up for the low GPAs alas.

You're fine for DO schools, including mine...we'd take you in a heartbeat..

If you dead set on an MD program, then the SMP is the trick. Make sure you can take as many medical school-like courses as possible. Pharm is a great start.
