I plan to apply next cycle, and I want to be competitive for top 20's. The resources and opportunities these schools have to offer are extremely important to me.
However, my MCAT may be a major obstacle. Despite scoring 520+ on my practice FL's, I do not have confidence in my score (I plan on retaking if it is less than 515).
Assuming I do poorly/substandard (I will know on 5/22), when should I schedule a retake? I am well aware of my deficiencies and weaknesses going into the test, and I am confident I can improve in those areas to get a better score.
Basically I need to make a contingency plan for this next year, and a poor MCAT score would drastically complicate matters (so much is riding on this test, including job opportunities and internships).
Also of note: my kaplan online resource access (includes AAMC resources) expires 9/20, so hopefully a September test date is not too early.
For now I am applying to numerous clinical/non-clinical volunteer gigs, mentoring/tutoring, etc.
