Is the first year at the same place in Cali as the residency? If so, I'd just go - beats moving twice or between end of intern year and start of PGY2.

What's so easy/hard about either one?

Personally, you will never have another time in your life where you are (mostly) shielded from malpractice and can truly learn from your mistakes. Go wherever you get the best exposure and can see the most patients. This will make you better in any specialty you choose, regardless of the location...
