uh kill the mcat and go DO i guess
for LOR's take smaller classes i guess

Anyone with solid advice out there?
Dude what the heck do you want people to tell you
The only way to get good grades is TO GET GOOD GRADES
There's no formula.
Also the only way you can get letters of rec is by doing those things that you listed, so suck it up. Yeah, it's artificial and insincere. Who cares

truth can be harsh sometimes...

You can't just "hope" or be "really confident" to do well when your record doesn't reflect that (yet).
At the end of my Freshman year first semester I posted about not doing as well as I had hoped to due to some problem I was having at the time.
I'm currently a sophomore and am still at the 3.0 because I once again didn't do as well as I had hoped.
I just lack motivation at times
I'm really confident in my ability to do well this semester.

Not attacking you in any way, but you need to learn to accept responsibility and really focus on improving your grades. If you don't think you have any control and responsibility over your own grade, who else will?
Aside from me blaming myself and everyone here blaming me for my errors

Search for "low gpa", you'll see plenty of people have overcome this issue, with even more credits and much lower GPA.
would also like to know how people have overcome this in the past.

Only you can answer the "worth it" question. Are you motivated/prepared to get your act together?
Essentially what I'm asking is, is that worth it?

If you are honestly wanting to get your act and motivation together, then make acing this next semester a priority. That means going to review sessions, office hours, study groups, seeking help from any resources your school offers (tutoring, counseling, writing center, science center, etc.).
Focus on one semester at a time. If you don't manage to bring your grades up, you don't have to worry about LORs.

Be realistic. You probably aren't going to get As in every course for the next couple of years. Why do you suddenly think you will? You admit you have problems with motivation. Nobody can tell you how to fix that. It's pretty individual and only you can figure it out. You have to have LORs so you have to do what it takes, even if you think it's fabricated and makes you uncomfortable. You haven't mentioned what you are doing for ECs. Have you started any activities yet? What are they? Doing something here and there sounds like there isn't really anything happening.
At this point you aren't competitive for either MD or DO. But there is always grade replacement for DO schools. Nobody but you can fix this issue but it's going to be a long haul. It is doubtful that you will be ready to apply at the end of third year and probably not when you graduate. For now work really hard on your grades. Keep up with your ECs and don't worry about the MCAT until your GPA is within striking distance of being competitive.

IUSM loves high GPA even over high MCAT. If you apply and don't get in, consider their MSMS program. Or you could retake the classes and try for the DO, including the one in Indy.

Okay guys I get it. I appreciate the honest advice but it's not completely over. I'd love to update you guys on how this semester goes as it progresses. I believe I can do it. My main goal is to get my GPA up to a 3.5+ before I graduate.
Dude of course it's not over. I'm just saying that every school is different, every major is different, and every professor is different. How you get a high GPA will be different from how others do
