Hey guys,
I am currently a pharmacology and toxicology master student and am in my second year with a 3.2 gpa (bc of research hours, that gpa will rise significantly by the time I graduate), I graduated with a bachelor in biology and a terrible gpa of 2.63 🙁 I haven't taken the OAT yet but am slowly starting to study for it and I have also set up time to start up shadowing again. I'm extremely worried about my undergrad gpa and wanted to know what you guys think I should do. Do I have a chance at all for next year to apply?

P.S. all of my prerequisites for optometry school are As and Bs...I made the mistake of taking upper level classes during a bad time in my life and those classes (bichem and genetics) killed my gpa 🙁 I want to get into optometry school very much...I had shadowed some ODs last year when I had time and had very much enjoyed it...I just hope that the adcom will look past my undergrad and concentrate more on my OAT score and grad gpa :/ let me know what you guys think 🙂

Your grad GPA is still kind of low. You would need to do really really well on the OAT. Also, keep in mind that OptomCAS doesn't average your undergrad and grad GPA by weighing them both exactly the same. I'm also a grad student, my undergrad GPA was a 3.38 and my grad GPA is 3.64 but somehow, OptomCAS averaged my "overall GPA" as ~3.42, I'm assuming because I took a lot more credits during my bachelor's than now, so I guess it counts more? I'm not sure.
