I am currently enrolled as a freshman at a 4 year undergraduate college that is not very competitive. We accept around 80% of our applicants. I chose to come here over some prestigious schools because I was recruited to play a varsity sport here, and I received a $15,000 annual academic scholarship. I saw the school had a “Pre Med” program, so I figured I'd be fine. My goal is to be a physician or a surgeon. I am interested in neurology and oncology.

I am underwhelmed at how easy some of the classes are (non science classes in particular.) From what I can gather, there is only one girl who is in med school who was an undergrad here, and I think she was at a PA school first before switching to med school.

I currently have a 4.0 GPA after the first semester in 5 classes (Bio, Psych, Philosophy, a humanities class, English). (for whatever it's worth, I also did 5 years of high school, with a post graduate year at a very academically rigorous prep school)

Unfortunately I just learned that the Organic Chemistry class offered here is really just an intro class with no lab. This will obviously not be sufficient for med school admissions. (Some “Pre-Med” program huh?)

I am currently the only freshman in the school doing research on bacteria with my Biology professor. It is a payed internship. I am also working with my school's Psychology professor with his educational consulting firm, working with local middle and high schools. I plan on getting certified and volunteering as an EMT this summer, as well as shadowing a doctor in my family.

My question is, how much of a disadvantage am I putting myself at by going to such a weak school compared to my competition? Is it s big deal that I will need to take organic chem at a different school? It wold be a huge sacrifice for me to leave this school; I have always wanted to get to this level with my sport and am one level under professional, my team sends a couple guys each year to the minor leagues. However, if I have to, I would consider other options.

Any advice is very appreciated, I am sort of lost as to my next move. Thanks!

The plus is that you'll have a great GPA. But the negative is that you are unlikely to have sufficient rigor in the prerequisite coursework to prepare you well for the MCAT from what you describe. Also, some med schools include a negative modifying factor to your GPA if a school is known for grade inflation or less academic rigor. The fact that there have been no successful direct med school applicants is alarming to hear.

It isn't a big deal to take some coursework at another university, just don't take it at a community college.

You might consider a middle road of staying at the current school for two years to play your sport and then transferring to another school that better meets your ultimate career goals and doing all your prerequisites there. At least you do have a research opportunity.
