Okay, I realized it's not a good idea to do several projects while studying for the boards.
Originally, I was going to dedicate a month just for boards.
But............. **** came up and I have to do some additional work for the rest of the month......... I have been gone for a week and my work has been on on halt and they need to be done soon or they will be delayed for another year or so. Now I have scheduled several meetings for the next couple weeks with my superiors and co-workers...... (not by choice)

Here's my progress. I have done 50% Uworld now (mid 60s random), haven't done pharm and micro yet. Went through quite a few high yield books, etc.

So I start FM, Peds and Oby in July and will have another 2 months off in Nov and Dec (research and boards but by then all the research should be done)
I can definitely do Kaplan Qbook (100 Q every week) til Nov to refresh my memory

What's your opinion on this?
Should I just man up and go through the motion or I should just finish
Some people say you won't forget too much since clinicals help you reinforce the concepts yet some people say you will end up forgetting most of the basic science.

You read a bunch of high yield books and have done 50% of UWORLD (which is very high yield!). Just do it now. You have it all up there, fresh. In a few weeks, it all slips away FAST. So a few months would put you back quite a bit.

I dunno, part of the reason is that I felt quite discouraged when I have to move my studying scheduling around my work schedule. That is if they are not planning to do anything else and if they do (which is quite likely), I will be pushed around for the rest of the month.
It just doesn't feel right.

****, I should've been in a MSTP program instead of this "trying-to-do-research" while going to MD ****.............

If you can't take vacation or someting to have more dedicated study time after postponing you shouldn't postpone. Your scores are not going to go up if you are away from first year materials for 6 months.

However, you said earlier that there are things which, if they won't get done now, won't get done for another year. My vote would be to let your work not get done for another year. The boards take priority and you need to say no to everythg else.

Agreed. I was fortunate enough to have a PI that said it was perfectly fine to disappear for a month or two. He told me "oh no problem, your boards are obviously a higher priority than this stuff, just get back in touch when you're done, and good luck!"

Ya, mine too but I am just not willing to give up the works. I started it, and I want to finish it. I don't want some random first year coming along next year and finish it and take half my credits. It's just a matter of principle.

You seem to have already made up your mind, why solicit advice in the first place?
