Hi Everyone - I know this just another version of a reoccurring question, but I'd really appreciate some feedback on this 😀:

So, I am trying to decide whether to remain enrolled in the classes I'm currently taking this semester (Micro+lab & Med.Terminology. I'm taking them post-bac at a community college). I already talked to Davis and they confirmed that I don't need them. The classes are interesting, but they take up a significant chunk of time and by dropping them I would be able to work more, save money for school, possibly be able to take a trip abroad this summer (!), and spend time with family/relax before moving/school starts. However, at this point, dropping them means receiving 2 Ws on my transcript for this last semester.

Now you're thinking "who cares about Ws!? you're in!" However, my main concern is this: I am interested in applying for an internship and residency after vet school and I'm concerned that they might ask for undergrad transcripts (I already know that some lab animal medicine programs do from Chris0333) and while i have a strong GPA etc I feel like I already have enough to explain from my early college days 🙄 (see successful applicants thread).

So, does anyone know if other specialties/residency programs ask for undergrad transcripts? (Bill59?? 😀) And if so, will completing these classes vs. withdrawing make a difference or are they more concerned with class rank/GPA in vet school?

Thanks everyone!!! and good luck to all those still waiting or making decisions! :luck:

I'd drop them. I can see how you'll regret it...I cannot imagine anyone holding it against you at any point. You reasoning of what it will prevent you from doing (traveling, earning money) and the benefit of what the courses will bring you (not very much) should be all anyone would need to hear.

I second that!! My understanding is that it is really more your DVM transcripts/class ranks/letters of rec that are what count for intern & residency positions (maybe I'm wrong but that's my understanding from spending possibly too much time on VIRMP or whatever that match website is!). I also agree w/VA Girl that 2 W's in classes that are not required for your vet school are pretty easily explainable.

Drop 'em and have ffffffffunnnnnnn this summer!!!!!😀😀😀

😀 Just dropped them............ and it felt GOOOOOD! 😛
