I am going to start my 3rd year from 26th November and this year I am going to study Pharmacology,General Pathology and Forensic Medicine.I need you people to advice me.Tell me how should I manage to study these subjects with comfort. Also tell me about the books that I should use for these subjects, especially tell me about the concise books for pharmacology and pathology. Please do reply!

It seems as if no one is interested in advising about books these days!

pathology = robbins (this is the general standard)

i studied forensics from the lecturer's notes which were great.

and pharm = i generally use lecture notes and the BNF....

Thanks for replying,Robbins is a big book, have you used any concise for pathology? Is BRS pathology a good book?
My school recommends us to study Pathology from Big Robbins and Pharmacology from Lippincott.Tell me some concise books for these two subjects.

lippincott's is pretty concise as it is....
there is baby robbins - the mini-version of robbins...

Agree that Robbins is all you need. Took me all of my MS-II year to read, though.

I think I should study from Big Robbins and do not try concise books because I have got a lot of time for pathology as compared to MD students as I have to study just General Pathology this year and will study special Pathology in my 4th year.
In the end if needed for exams I will do it from so called babey Robbins.🙂

What books you people use for Pathology ,Forensic and Pharmacology for your preparation of USMLE step 1?I am sorry to ask you same question again and again but I just want to have acquaintance with those books that I will be using in future for USMLE preparation.I have a plan to try for USMLE after completing my graduation. So do help me.

peace zealot, im guessing you're from Pakistan. So, here's your choice of books:
pathology- robbins MEDIUM (big is just useless)
pharma- lippincott plus katzung review
forensic- concise (published by med students of KE. As the title states, it's a CONCISE book with all the info u'll need)

Although I am done with Pharma, forensic and almost with pathology. And the material I used was Katzung and Lippincot for pharma, lecture notes for forensic.I got pretty good grades. Now using Big Robbins+ Goljan RR+ Goljan audio and I hope this would be a success story as well.

Anyways, thanks for your concern, and yes I am from Pakistan.🙂
