1st and 2nd yr Chem courses are like years away from me, so only basic stuff was retained in my memory.
I went through Chad's video on GC and OC. I am fine with GC part by Chad and Destroyer. The OChem becomes a pain in *** right from starting of Destroyer. I found (or felt wrongly) that Chad's video content is not enough to get through destroyer?
I am wondering if a well-organized DAT textbook on chemistry will help? What I have now is only the Destroyer and couple of old MCAT chem books from friends.

Should I get Gold Standard/Kaplan/Princeton Review specifically for chem??? or should i Stick to Chad's video and re-do it to get more out?

Thanks a lot for any advice!

I never tried gold standard or Princeton review for chem but Kaplan was pretty basic--it might be useful if you are shaky on the basic foundations of ochem. For me the biggest help was the two sources that you are utilizing. Chads for me was amazing and the destroyer really reinforced all the concepts even further. For destroyer I also memorized the maps in the answers section and that also helped me out.

I didn't need to work as hard on ochem because I took the class pretty close to the time I took the DAT so a textbook could help but in the end a big part of it is just memorizing the key reactions that you will be tested on. Also for me drawing out the mechanisms and what was actually happening helped me memorize the reactions better instead of just trying to remember what the final product would be.

Take as many as you think- Videos- from start to end, Destroyer from start to End..I believe those study materials are pretty good!
But if you feel like you need something more, go ahead.

If it's been a long time since you last took any chemistry courses, then yes, destroyer will 'destroy' you. In face, destroyer is tough for most people right out of 1st and 2nd year chem. I strongly recommend you stick to Chad and answer the questions you can on destroyer using Chad. Don't worry too much about the rest. Most of the chemistry destroyer is complete overkill, in my opinion. A great textbook to have to supplement Chad is "Chemistry: A Molecular Approach" by Tro. That was the textbook that was used in my gen chem courses and I stand by that book. Incredibly well written. Just KNOW Chad, do his quizzes, try QVault and Bootcamp and you should be in great shape for all of chemistry on the DAT.

Make sure you go through all the solutions and road maps in Destroyer. This will definitely help you understand more. If you need more info to study organic chem, you can invest in Organic chemistry Odyssey, Organic chemistry as a second language 1 and 2, Schaums outlines. They all will give you a crash course and extra practise problems.

I would get David Klein's "Organic Chemistry As a Second Hand Language" (Both Semester 1 and Semester 2) books. Take a week to go through them both, watch Chad's orgo videos over again, and then go through Destroyer problems twice. I tried just Chad's videos and Destroyer at first and the problem is (well at least for me) that the information was not sinking in because I was so far removed from Orgo. Everything just looked familiar but I was not understanding the method to the madness. David Klein does a really good job of breaking down information so that your understand and provides a lot practice examples to work through. Its an extremely good foundation to start from. The main important topics covered in the first one are SN1, SN2, E1,E2 and chair conformations. If you are short on money and only want to get one, I definitely think getting the second semester one is completely worth it. You should be able to rent them each for around $16.00 per book.

I may have these books on pdf. I can check if you'd like. Shoot me a message.

Get Organic chemistry Odyssey, and Klein's Organic chemistry as a second language. They work very well for Organic. For General Chen, use Destroyer, ACS and Zumdahl chemistry textbook. Those materials will help you learn.

I wouldn't get Gold Standard, got it for the PAT section and there were so many mistakes/inconsistencies with the answers.

Chads is the best, he makes concepts really easy to understand , I thought his videos did the best job at preparing me for the chem sections and destroyer did a good job at solidifying the material even further.
