I got offered two jobs so far. The first job is a scribe job where I get trainng for 8.25/hr and have to travel 19 miles to the training site. Training is about two months. After completion of training I get paid 12.50 and have to travel to different hospitals in the country to train other scribes. They also pay for traveling expenses.

The second job would be a retail job working for telephonee carriier. They have a baseline pay plus commission. I can possibly earn alot more (40K plus)

should I work for thee experieencce or forr the mooneyy?

edit: I have been accepted to KCUMB and interviewed at CCOM last week.

Do you have previous clinical experience? If so, is it a substantial amount? If yes then you could just shoot for the retail job if it's more convenient and can earn more.

If you don't have clinical experience than gun for the scribe job.

Scribing is a very beneficial experience for your application and it will provide you a decent amount of skills that will carry over into your medical school experience and practice. However that being said, if you've already got plenty of meaningful clinical experiences, then taking the job that pays well would be my recommendation as having an fuller bank account is going to really come in handy when you decide that you need to escape for a week during a break to an island where you do nothing.

thanks for you prompt response, I have been accepted to KCUMB and interviewd at CCOM last week. I have a good amount of clinical experience. Im still debating whether I should choose the retail job or the scribe position. the scribe position will most def be beneficial but so will the money from working the higher paying job.

Since you have an acceptance, now it is about money since the more you make now then the less loans you have to take out. However, if you could maybe do the scribe job part-time on top of the other position then that might be a good idea if it does not overwhelm you since scribing is a great experience for future doctors and will teach you a lot which will help prepare you (especially for rotations)

actually this job entails of travling weeks to months a time. so it would be a full time job

Then I would just do retail. sounds kind of like an odd scribe job if you are traveling, even if you are the trainer

Definitely go for the money. You already have an acceptance so there's no need to boost your application. Might as well build up the bank account while you can.
