Hi everyone!
I appreciate your help in advance.
I'm a Kinesiology major and with a 3.47 GPA. (I was a business major for a little while which negatively affected my GPA.) I'm a junior but I will be a fifth year senior when I graduate. That being said, what GPA range is considered acceptable to DPT Programs?

Also, I took a practice GRE yesterday. Granted I hadn't studied for it at all because I wanted a complete diagnostic. In fact it was my first interaction with the GRE at all and I scored 148 on Quantitative and 145 on Verbal. The Princeton Review sells an online course that I'm going to purchase for prep as well. What is a good competitive GRE score to aim for? I don't really have a reference point for those numbers except they meet minimum requirements for some programs; although, minimums don't always mean good enough.

Lastly, what volunteer work should I pursue? I know I'm required to do observation hours, however I'm fairly certain that the two aren't the same even though I've heard them discussed interchangeably.

Thanks again! I'm sorry I have so many questions. I'm the first person in my family to pursue this career field and am just not quite certain about various steps in the process.

Have a nice day all and I look forward to hearing from you.

I'd also like to add that the GRE scoring has recently been modified; I know the 100s sounds incredibly low.

-- Your GRE scoring is how it is currently scored. You want a 320 combined with at least a 160V and 4.0AW to be fully comfortable on that front.
-- Getting your GPA above 3.5 would do a world of good.
-- "Volunteering" and "Observing" are interchangeable as far as PTCAS is concerned. More settings are better than more hours. (200 hours in 3 settings makes you more competitive than 2,000 hours in 2 settings.) Look for observation opportunities at acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, schools, rehab units, outpatient clinics, etc.
