Hi everyone,

I'm a new member to this forum, but have been reading the threads for a while now. Long story short, I decided to go pre-dent and need to start studying for the DATs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm looking to buy some study materials. Your help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I would recommend Kaplan ($80) for studying Bio, Chem and O-Chem. For improving PAT, CRACKDAT PAT ($200) is a great program and stimulates the real PAT very well. For reading comprehension, you just need to practice, practice, and practice. Before taking the DAT, take a mock test everyday for at least a week, get the DAT achiever ($50).
Also beware that the real Quantitative Reasoning is WAYYYY harder than any of these mock tests. My average score on my mock tests was 29 and I only got a 20 on DAT 😡.

I would actually take the Kaplan DAT course...its kind of costly but worthwhile because of all the practice questions/tests they have. Then I would you Columbia Review books (bio,orgo,chem)...Kaplan is a little weak on bio and these books really help...they stopped printing them so you'll have to buy them used. Topscore DAT is also really helpful. DAT Achiever etc to tell you the truth kind of sucks...I've used them before.

I took the Kaplan course and thought it was kinda a waste of time and money. But then it probably depends on who you'll have as instructors and your needs. I felt the type of questions on Kaplan's practice tests is very different from the real DAT.
I agree with Nova4484 that the Bio is a little weak, my score totally showed that.

CDP is $100.00 for the base price and $130.00 fot the 10 tests. just buy the cheapest and email them for upgrade deals and you can get the 10 test for $20 more

The computer programs you have to get straight from the websites.

I have:
Kaplan BB with CD
Additional Kaplan written test
Cliffs AP bio
Campbells' Text book and study guide (I used the study guide for main ideas and quizzes alternating with Cliffs, it was useful)
I also have Wade's Ochem, with study guide and some gen-chem textbooks

I also have a huge binder of notes for each of the science areas, including review sheets w/ formulas for QR, the printed lectures from Chad's O-chem and G-chem, topic breakdowns for each section per the ADA, I may even have my study calendar on there if you want to see how I prepped.

Yes there are notes all over everything. Good notes.
I did not write the test answers on the practice tests- used a notebook.

If anyone is interested, you might be able to save some $ and then I don't have to move it.

PM me if you are interested, let me know what you are interested in and what you think is a fair price.
