Hello eveyone,

I m new to this forums i am really very much confused..i dont know from where to start.I wanted to know what are the requirments for a foreign trained pharmacist who is outside US.

Whether to go for pharm D degree or give FPGEC exam or any other entrance exam to study here..???

anyone can please provide some info ..i would be very very thankful

I recently spoke to a foreign pharmacist who moved here earlier this year and she said that they stopped letting foreign pharmacists take an exam and then get a license and practice back in 2002 if I remember correctly. She was informed that she would have to take the PCAT and apply to pharmacy school as if she was a pre-pharmacy student and then go through all four years of pharm school and get a pharmD. I don't know what state you are looking for, but contact your state board of pharmacy. I know in CA you can still come here, do all the FPGEC stuff, do some intern hours, take the exam, and you're good to go.. 👍

Don't think so. I know of a number of foreigners who have taken some type of quivelency exam. They were already in the US as graduate students (not professional students).

pharmD131 and you are both partially correct. Everything depends on the year you graduate & the length of your curriculum.

If you graduated pharmacy school before Jan 1, 2003, and graduated a 4-year pharmacy school, you can take FPGEE, TOEFL, TSE, then FPGEC, without having to go through any more schooling.

If you graduated pharmacy school after Jan 1, 2003 and graduated 4-year pharmacy school, you have to go through the process pharmD131 explained - Apply to a 4-yr Pharmacy school, get admitted, pay tuition and study for 4 years, graduate, then take NAPLEX.

If you graduated pharmacy school after Jan 1, 2003 and graduated 5-year pharmacy school, you can take FPGEE, TOEFL, TSE, then FPGEC, without going through any more schooling

Anyways, you MUST get 213 on CBT and 50 on TSE, which requires near-native English fluency.
