Need help applying for one year masters program

I'm looking to apply to 1 year masters program for my gap year and I'm really really lost as to what I'm suppose to do. Is there any websites or could anybody comment on their experience of how the whole process works?

I'm interested in public health or psych or many other different studies. Can I actually apply broadly to different studies or do I have to focus on one?

If somebody could tell me how your process worked and could give me advise, that would help me a lot.
