Hi. So I basically want to know if its easier to match into IM or FM for an IMG with a green card.
According to the 2013 stats there were 6277 positions offered for IM and 3037 for FM. About 50% of US grads matched to IM and 44% to FM, the rest going to IMGs. To me it seems it will be easier to match into IM because of the significant amount of positions it offers over FM but the stats show only 868 US-IMGs matched to IM and 690 to FM, the rest going to non-US IMGs (1780 for IM and 385 for FM).
So my question is how come most spots went to non-US IMGs for IM? Is it simply because a lot more non-US IMGs applied? I think knowing how many US-IMGs and non-US IMGs applying to IM would've helped but I couldn't find that stat.
I hope my question makes sense. Thanks.
