Need Help Deciding

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You should accumulate 50 hours of physician shadowing, including primary care, before you apply. Where you apply will be dependent on your actual MCAT score. Post your score here when available in August. Have your application ready to submit the day you receive your score.

Suspect in what way? It doesn't really matter when you get it done as long as you do get it done. It's okay if that's when you have time.

However, a mid-July MCAT means a mid-August release date/submission, which is getting pretty late in the cycle. As someone who will be reapplying (partially due to a late application submission), I suggest waiting to apply until next cycle when you'll have the best chance.

Would it be safe to do the physician shadowing after taking my mcat and before submitting my app? Or would that look suspect?

This is one area where craming it in right before you apply doesn’t matter. Shadowing can be hard to get and it honestly doesn’t look suspect to me to get it in when you can. If you waited until now to do all your volunteering, yes, that would look suspect.
