Mission: To improve basic oral hygiene in the slums of Bangalore, India, by teaching and implementing safe health practices through supplying items, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, first aid kits, and education materials.
Problem: Bangalore, a city located in South India, has recently grown into a fast-paced society and become a hub to large companies and corporations, resulting in an exponential growth in the standard of living. Impoverished and illiterate populations from all over India, in search for employment, have settled in Bangalore and formed large but dispersed slums throughout the city. As the population of these slums alarmingly increase, adults and children lack an acceptable understanding of oral hygiene because they cannot afford to visit doctors or dentists. Consequently, basic preventative care has become a luxury to their lives. By providing supplies and basic health education, we aspire to change one neighborhood at a time.
