**Need help...BADLY!!**😕

I'm taking a fifth year and currently going into my fourth year. In both of the following two years, I plan on taking 90% course load....and I still have to do 3 pre-reqs (organic chem, bio, and physics).

I'm taking org chem in the upcoming year, so i'll have that by the time of applying..but I won't have bio or physics. Would not having those 2 pre-reqs, as well as taking a fifth year negatively affect my application?

I'm currently trying to petition to drop my bio because I got a C+ and don't want that on my transcript, so i'll have to re-take in 2010-2011. I have already taken biochem 1 and 2 though, so hopefully that would be make up for not having the bio pre-req at the time of applying...?

Thank YOU!!! 🙂

So you're applying without physics 1 & 2? How do expect to do well on the MCAT without physics 1 & 2?

Technically, one does not need to have all the pre-reqs done when they apply, but does when they matriculate. I agree with the above poster though, where in your timeline do you plan on taking the MCAT? Perhaps you can do a pre-req over the summer. I took a year of physics over the summer, it was a great decision.

I'm going to take the MCAT next June. So that is true I won't have Physics 1 and 2 before doing the MCAT. I would take it in the upcoming year with organic chem but the classes conflict. So I decided to take org chem first, and then take physics next year. Hopefully my petition to withdraw from biology is granted, and then I would take biology as well.

I was going to take the princetonreview. I'm just hoping that through that practice i'll have enough to do well on the MCAT...

Or would it be more wise to take physics 1 and 2 this year, and then take org chem next year because physics is 50% of PS, but org chem is only about 20% of BS?

The pre-reqs are not just there to be accepted into med school, theyre there to prepare you for the MCAT.

Some people have a hard enough time with the MCAT even after having taken all the pre-reqs and doing princeton/kaplan reviews.

I think just about everyone here on SDN would recommend putting your MCAT off until after you've taken your pre-reqs, but honestly its your life and ultimately you can do whatever you want. Just know that it wouldn't be recommended.
