sgpa: 2.8
cgpa: 3.25

MCAT: 8/6/Q/9

shadow surgeon

surgical lab (perform microsurgery on mice)

I am stuck and don't know whether to go to post bacc route to improve gpa and then take MCAT to apply to MD or DO, or to try to apply to DO this time around, or apply to Caribbean medical schools (Is it true that you cannot practice in CA if you go the international route?) Please help. I've already graduated from UCSD and the counselors won't help me unless I pay them more $$ for services. =[

STRONGLY suggest taking post-bac program. That Sci GPA needs to get up to at least 3.3. cGPA is on the low side as well. You need to show us AdCom members that you can handle medical school.

MCAT should be retaken and get at least a 26. 23 is below qualifier line at my school.

Also, it appears you have no patient contact experience, or much volunteer work. Shadowing alone doesn't cut it, you need to show your altruism. And that you like touching patients. You're going to have to do that as a doctor.

Life in the US is going start getting harder for FMGs...rotation slots are becoming harder to get, and the liscencing requirements are starting to get jacked up..
