I applied to a lot of schools last cycle (40+).

I'm not sure which schools to apply to again. I need help researching the schools and picking out the ones that fit me best.

Is there a method to this madness?

Thanks

look at ur gpa/mcat...choose schools with around the same (mostly lower)

don't apply to 40 schools

Ok. What else?

And what should I use to narrow my choices down?

You know, if your stats are too low to get into medical school, applying to more medical schools doesn't actually work well.

If you don't get accepted to 10, chances are you're not going to get accepted into 40.

Anyway, look at where you are in terms of GPA and MCAT and aim for schools with an average close to your numbers. If you're rocking the 4.0 and 40+, go ahead and apply to those prestigious schools and maybe throw in one or two safeties. If you're an average or below average applicant, apply to your state schools, apply DO or Caribbean if you're interested in either of those options. However if you don't have adequate extracurriculars like shadowing, clinical and nonclinical volunteering, leadership, etc, I wouldn't even apply this year. Instead I would focus on filling in those gaps and return next year with a strong app.

My MCAT was very low. I am retaking it on August 24. My ECs are good. I have covered just about all the categories (leadership, clinical, research, philanthropy, teaching, etc.) I submitted my application yesterday with one school for now. I will add more.

What should be my next steps?
