Hi all!

I'm an Indian doctor graduated from Sudan in Africa. I'm planning to do my residency in Radiology. Radiology is a competitive branch and I'm considering the best options for it. My 1st option is UK, 2nd Germany, 3rd Ireland and 4th India.
I'm not and EU citizen, is it reasonable for me to wait for chances in England or should I go for Germany? For Germany, do I have any exams to give prior to application or I can be considered and appropriate candidate after passing FRCR part 1? And is German Language must for Radiology also? If so what are the steps for application?
Regarding Ireland, if I go there as General Doctor, can they give me Training Post if I pass FRCR, will my chances increase? Is Ireland a good option for residency?
I'm an Indian and I have passed FMGE, after giving FRCR part 1 can I be an eligible candidate to get training in India or do I have to give local exam even?
Regarding Australia, what are the initial steps? Can my FRCR part 1 allow me to start training there or also I've to give Preparatory exams?
Thanks a lot for going through this message.
If you can help in any views please reply.

Thanks!

I can tell you that radiology has become one of the most competitive specialties in the UK in recent years. As you know preference goes to EU candidates such that it would be almost impossible to get into radiology specialty training in the UK, you would find it hard to complete a foundation programme there as well which is necessary to apply to specialty training. It is not going to get easier and many hospitals have actually started outsourcing diagnostic radiology services to Australia or India to meet demand for services and cutting costs.

Having FRCR Part 1 does not exempt you from sitting the licensure exams - for the UK this would be PLAB and the Australians have their own exams.

You will likely have to start from the beginning and cannot just go straight into radiology training. It is useful to have a few years in medicine and/or surgery beforehand - this is useful for both diagnostic and interventional radiology.

India as you know is very nepotistic and the training is a bit corrupt. It has been clear that often radiology training posts will go to those with the connections or money rather than the talent.

Germany may be your best bet (assuming you can speak German). They have a shortage of doctors there as they have been leaving in the their droves and coming to the UK etc as the working conditions are not very good. I don't know about radiology in particular, but I know many german doctors who came to the UK and were not happy with the system and the pay.
