Well, a week left before my exam and I pretty have covered the main topics cold (path, pharm, micro, etc). I know them well. It just seems as if I haven't covered Anatomy and Neuroanatomy as well as I've covered the rest of the subjects. I've read the High Yield books for both of them but I haven't retained much of what I read. Rather than going through them and trying to read them again which isn't a good idea with the exam a week away, I'm wondering will covering First Aid anatomy, the Goljan HY notes and doing the BRS Neuroanatomy questions be enough to answer a majority of the questions on the exam? I'm going to read the HY Cell and Molecular biology since it's only a 100 pages long and I can get that done in half a day. Any advise for anatomy is appreciated. This exam is stressing me out big time. I'm sure alot of you that have taken the exam know how it feels. :scared:
PS Whats the average amount of questions on anatomy do most people get? I'm guessing around 20-30 the most?

With a week left, I don't think you have much choice than to just focus of FA for Gross/Neuro. But then again, it sounds like you study a lot faster than I do, in which case you should hit the particularly relevant HY Neuro chapters. Make sure you know the cerebral vessels, look at the angiograms, make sure you have the brainstem nuclei down (in general.. don't try to memorize all their exact locations at this late date, just know them in reference to their "syndromes", like lat. medullary lesion -> what loss of function), and make sure you know the homunculus. It sounds silly, but knowing the homunculus got me three questions I wouldn't have otherwise gotten.

It took me three solid days to really hammer HY Cell Bio, and it was definitely worth it. Unless you know cell bio really well, I would spend at least a day reading that book in detail. Maybe you can skip the immuno chapter (18?) but don't you dare skip the last chapter. If you do one thing between now and your exam, it should be to read the last chapter of HY Cell Bio.

I had about 30 anatomy Q's, 10 were Neuro, 20 Gross. I spent a total of 1 day on gross (out of 3 mos. of total preparation) and ended up getting nearly all of them right. Gross questions are in general more "guessable" than Cell Bio, in my opinion.

So if I were you I would take some time with HY Cell Bio, do the relevant HY Neuro, and memorize FA Gross and Neuro. That's just my opinion though, and I'm sure others will differ.

Good luck,

HamOn
