Hi guys

I need A LOT of help with my medical school list. I am a rising senior planning to apply for 2006 entrance. My undergrad GPA is 3.88, from a competitive liberal arts college, and MCAT is 31Q (10VR, 11PS, 10BS). I have some activities and volunteer/clinical expereince, but they are definitely not extraordinary. I am a Washington state resident, which totally screws up everything since I can't really count on my state school accepting me since UW is such a competitive school, and the only med school in the state. So I am counting on applying to private schools that take more out of state residents. All I want is to go to a US MD program, and I am really scared that I won't be accepted anywhere because of my residency issue and the fact taht my MCAT scores seems very boarderline for most schools. So please help me out with my list! Which schools are big on taking out of state residents, and are not very competitive? Also are there any schools on my list that are just too much of a reach for me (Standford, Columbia, etc) that I should just take off? Thanks for your help!

nice stats. I think you'll be fine.

I'd recommend considering a SUNY school or two (here in NY). You've got a great list; the UC schools will likely be as challenging as your state school, but I think you're fine.

Good luck with it!

Here is what USNews thinks of how competitive your schools are to get into.... You applied to a lot of schools with average MCATs above yours. And though your score IS really good, threads from this last application cycle make it seems that like school cutt-offs are rising. So you might want to add a few schools whose average MCAT is lower than yours. I have some suggestions below.

Columbia U. College of Physicians and Surgeons (NY) 3.79 11.7 11.1 12.0 12.0 Q

I think your list is just fine. I have similar stats to you and received interviews at several of the schools on your list. Good luck! 🙂

I agree with this statement. No need to do much to your list. Some of those are super top tier schools like Columbia. But a dream is a dream is a dream, and you never know what may happen.

i'd take off llu unless you don't have a problem with being brainwashed with sda ideology during your medical education 👎
