hey guys,

I will be having an interview for a pharm tech position at the hospital, but i had no previous experiences. Therefore, if there is anyone out there who have done this before, could you give me some advices on how to present myself better during the interview. What should i tell them to let them know that i am able to do the job well even though i had no previous pharmacy experience in the hospital? thanks

Good question, I'm in the same boat. I've got zero pharmacy experience, and none of my other work experience is even health care-related. Anyone?

I don't know if Hospitals accept non certified & no experience.

hmm, but they posted up a job opportunity for a pharm tech who has not been licensed yet....

here is a job posting for an "unlicensed" hospital pharm tech:

"Successful candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. National Pharmacy Technician and one year experience working as a Pharmacy Tech strongly preferred. Must be able to type 40 wpm and possess excellent data entry, math and computer skills. Must become certified within one year of hire date."

Here's some suggestions from my experience:

1. Dress well and arrive on time
2. Prepare an application packet: resume, LORs, copies of awards, etc.
3. Put this in a nice folder and LEAVE them the folder
4. Be ready for the following questions:

a) Why are you the candidate we are looking for?
"I'm reliable, punctual, accurate, motivated, passionate, read my LORs"

b) What are your weaknesses?
"Not that much hospital experience, but fast learner, great work ethic"

5. Register for the tech exam and give them the date
6. It always helps to be confident, but super-polite

It's no big deal, so don't sweat it.
Good luck!

Good luck with the interview. Just let them know your good points, goals, weaknesses, etc. As for you, just ask about job duties and their expectations from you if you get the job. I hope it goes well for you, but don't worry if you don't get hired. From my experience, you probably will find it pretty hard to step right into a hospital tech job. You will probably have to start out in retail first to get some experience or volunteer there first or something. If you are set on hospital, find some of the smaller hospitals who are more needy of techs, usually their requirements are a lot lower. The hospital I am working at now does not require PTCB certification or experience (unusual), but all people who were hired no experience are all nursing students. But I suggest to go to retail first to get your foot in the door and get all your certifications there. Depending on the company, they will pay for your PTCB exams. Good Luck.

actually, i didn't previously mention my experiences because i am not sure if i had learned much from those experiences.

But yea,

I had worked as a pharmacy clerk and volunteered at the hospital before. Even though i didn't get to do much, but do u think this would help me a little bit during my interview if i mention this to them?
