hi- i'm a former pre-med switching to go the dental route. I'm trying to decide which materials to buy for the dat but i'm getting really confused reading all the posts!! i dont really want to spend a whole lot of money & i have a ton of mcat books already. i'm planning to buy the dat destroyer & topscore cd for practice but i'm having trouble deciding if i should get the kaplan blue blook, barron's dat (i hear it has a good pat section?), & campbell's bio outline? should i get all 3 of these- 1 or 2?? i wanna use my mcat gchem, ochem, and verbal books but i'm worried about the new bio stuff on dat that's not on the mcat & the pat & QR sections. advice??😕

If you already have a bunch of books for the MCAT, then you don't need much, but you should definitly get a couple of DAT specific books to give you a better feel for the DAT. At the basic level you should get the Kaplan Blue book for section by section tips and information and some practice tests, and Top Score Pro for the best DAT test simulations. If you find you need extra help on the PAT section then get Barron's, that book is fairly cheap. If you buy all three you've only spent about a $100 and you can use your MCAT books for extra help with the sciences.

From what i was tol by a kid in my Ochem class, the mcat is a different kind of animal than the dat. the dat is more in depth understanding of the sciences. my recommendation is to get the "dat destroyer" and the "top score" with that and maybe the kaplan dat book you should be set ... best of luck

thanks guys- i appreciate your advise! yea i hear mcat & dat are pretty diff.
