I have my NBDE I exam on Thursday. And have been studying for the past 2 months or so and finally took my first practice test today and did pretty crappy.. 66%. All I want to do is pass, and now I'm freaked out that I am not going to do so. Does anyone know if that were to pass on the real exam? And do you have any advice on what to study for the next few days.. should I just keep taking old exams?

One other question because I tend to see this on old tests but I am unsure if they exist on the current tests. There are about 80 questions that are clinical based and they give about 6 or 8 scenarios for these questions in total to refer back to. Do they have that many of those types of questions on the current test?

Thanks. Anyone that has any clue on the approximate minimum raw score to pass would be a huggge help.

At this point just keep taking old exams, go over your mistakes, and make sure you understand why you got the answers wrong. I'm not sure about what's passing or not (don't have my score yet). On my exam I had ~10 testlets where they give you a scenario and ask you questions based on the information. The rest of the exam is a hodgepodge of random questions.

Good luck!

ya that is what I was planning on doing.. pretty much just memorizing the answers and stuff .. and trying to figure out why things were right for the most part..

but does anyone else know if a 66 would pass.. or about a raw score that would? This would put my mind at ease

According to the ADA Technical Report on the NBDE I, in 2008 the minimum raw passing score for two of the forms was a 227 and 231 raw score. This was about 20 points higher than 2007.

So as long as things haven't changed too much, an average score of 66 should be way more than enough to pass.

Thanks, that helped a lot. Actually for anyone else here is the website with that report.

If anyone else has any recent min. pass rates, please post them. If you know someone who got between 75-80 that would help too with their raw score.

I just passed part 1 with a score of 79. I would recommend you do as many exams as possible. i believe i took about 10 old exams from old ASDA exams, mosby, and CracktheNBDE. I know I started taking old exams about 2 wks prior to my exam, but you still have time. Make sure once you take exams you go over each exam thoroughly and know why you got certain questions wrong. It'll take you about an entire day to take an exam and correct it. i was doing an exam per day. My exam did have a good number of testlet questions so you should expect to see them on your exam. On exam day make sure you pace yourself, relax and don't stress out. Don't waste time on questions you're not sure, just mark them and come back to them at the end. Just trust in yourself that you studied everything you possibly could and you should do fine. Good Luck!
