For my fourth year of school, I need to complete a surgery selective. I originally had a nice neurosurgery rotation set up but unfortunately it has fallen through, so now I need to find something else. I suppose anything in surgery will do, just to satisfy the requirement for graduation... but I wonder which, if any, surgical subspecialties I could rotate through would potentially make me a better psychiatrist. Your thoughts?

I thought transplant and trauma had good facets for my interests.

I did a sub-I in Urology and loved it. It was fun to do something totally different from what I was going to do in residency.

I'd go with whatever has the best overall rep. You can translate anything into psych.

Rep for what and for whom? If anything, I'd say go with what you'd enjoy.

I personally hope I can rotate with someone who does sexual reassignment surgery... but I'd imagine that's hard to set up on short notice.
