Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this thread but I chose here because I'm not a med student yet.

I've been accepted to CCOM and I would like to get some pros/cons from current students.

What do you like about the school? Dislike? What is an average day like? With the learning style being mostly didactic, do you feel like you get to know your classmates well? Do most people study in groups or by themselves?

Any other thoughts or advice would be great too!

Thanks

However, to answer your questions:

Pros: solid reputation (one of the oldest DO schools in the world), close to Chicago, phenomenal staff, 100% match rate, consistently higher board scores than the national average, Dean Nichols is a superstar (first female AOA president, extremely involved in the upcoming merger), AOA is located in Chicago. And that's just a few things that come to mind.

Cons: Tuition is pretty high. Classes are tricky (but that's just medical school) Otherwise there aren't any major cons. Although the lecture halls don't have many outlets.

Our block schedules are available on the university's website, I would suggest checking those out. You definitely get to know your peers. And I can't speak for next year's class but our current class is awesome. Group vs. individual studying depends on the class and the students studying. Some people benefit from group discussions, others just can't focus in that type of setting.
