Hi,
i recently got accepted into pharmacy in canada. Does anyone know the range of salaray in canada?
also... i heard once you are a pharmacist there isn't much room for promotions and etc... for example... a new pharmacist makes 40 dollars and hour... and the 20 year veteran would also make 40 dollars an hour.. is this true?

There is always room for promotions but they are faster than some fields (actuary, lawyers), same as other fields (nurses, corporate world), and slower than others (law enforcement and military). Although promotions usually include a raise, getting an increase in your total salary completely depends on you. For example in the corporate world, you can easily climb to a supervising pharmacist from a staff pharmacist, or to a district pharmacist but your pay dont increase as much. In fact, most pharmacists can probably make the same amount of money doing overtime with A LOT less responsibilities. The money factor is different from the promotion factor but no, usually it depends on what you are doing and what you can contribute to a company or hospital. Usually someone with more seniority (another factor) will get paid more depending on the company (or the same as a recent graduate due to increased market wages and inflation) and get more benefits like 3 weeks of paid vacation instead of 2). However to answer your question, no as in you can go from a staff pharmacist in a hospital (making 90-100k) starting, (director of pharmacy), and end up being the CEO (making quarter of a million to unlimited amounts) of the hospital, and yes as in you can still be the same old staff pharmacist in 20 years except with more money and seniority. Once again, promotions usually depend on what you can give and contribute to a certain company. It does not just come with time.
