Here are my scores:

GPA: 3.60
Science: 3.7ish

DAT
AA: 22
PAT: 20
BIO: 22
GC: 25
OC: 23
TS: 23
RC: 20
QR: 22

I applied to the University of Michigan, plus other schools. Although, UofM is my number 1 choice, cause i'm a Michigan resident.

What are my chances of getting in. I need your opinion. Anyone applied to Michigan and got an interview: please post your stats.

Thanks

*shakes head*

Are you serious? Please tell me you're joking. Do you REALLY need someone to tell you that those are good stats? *shakes head again*

OK-- GPA above 3.5 *check*
ALL DAT scores above 20 *check*

Numerically speaking, critterbug thinks you have a pretty good chance 😉 critterbug would venture to guess that you are in the top 20-30 % of all applicants in terms of stats.

Disclaimer:
critterbug doesnt know sh$t, but knows that those are good stats

wolf,

Great Stats...I'm sure you're in. When did you apply? Do you have an interview yet?
Where are you doing your undergrad?
I'm also applying to UMich, but I don't have quite the stats you do though. Good luck to you.

mlonier,

I applied at end of August, took the DAT in July. My file was complete around mid-october.
I took my undergraute courses at the Univ. of Mich.- Ann Arbor.
I haven't received an invitation for an interview yet. Although, i called the office, and they said that i should keep checking my mail.

Do you think that i'll get an interview soon.

more inputs on scores/interview are welcome.

hey mlonier again,

I want to let you know that i also applied to the Univ. of Detroit Mercy, and i got an interview on friday Nov. 14. Wish me luck! 🙂
I'll send you my feedback if you're interested.
If you have any questions, i'll be glad to help.

I applied to Marquette, BU, Detroit, & UMich...AADSAS is still processing my application. I'm going down to UofM tomorrow with a couple dentists I shadowed with to get a tour. Detroit had an open house a couple weeks ago...nice facilities, the students were great...very friendly and had all good things to say about the program. They said the interviews are very laid back and somewhat informal, nothing to be nervous about.
I'm sure the UofM invite will come soon for you. I was looking at the 2003 stats page...it seems like a lot of out of state people with marginal stats got into UofM last year (low 3 points and sub 20 DAT's).
If you have the choice btw UofM and Detroit, where would you go? We'll likely see more patients at Detroit, but umich has a great campus and costs about $60K less. I'll be happy at either.

Good luck...let me know how the interview goes.

You will be lucky to receive one interview, your score on the DAT and your GPA are both horrible. I recommend you retake the DAT again.

I also agree with Yah-E about retaking the DAT. In addition, I would like to suggest that you should consider taking some more upper division classes and try to get C's and D's in them because your GPA is a little too high.

I, too, think that you should pretty much start studying for the DAT again. If I were you, I would aim for 24 and higher on all sections.

You only have a 3.7ish science GPA, which means that you did not get all A's. Retake any of the science courses in which you got a B or lower. Try getting all A's and you should be fine in this department. At the very least, try pulling up your science gpa to a 3.92 or higher.

Are you sure you want to pursue dentistry? If you cant get your numbers up, maybe you should look into being a dental hygienist.

ok, i get it.
thanks you guys.
I'm new to SDN, and i didn't know much about good GPAs and DAT scores to enter good dental schools.

thanks again
i'll post my UDMercy interview feedback soon.

malonier, and for all of you interested;

the interview went great. it was very laid back. the facilities are new and nice. It's well known that the clinical work at UDMercy is one of the best in the country. it's what the school excells at.
I spent some time with my uncle, will be graduating in april 04, around the school.
i have to say i was impressed.
