So my university (as most do) allows students to start creating schedules early in the preceding semester. I'm graduating in spring 2015 and would like to squeeze in some classes before I do so. I know for a fact I'll take general chemistry I and general physics I this fall so I can stay on track to finish them in the spring, but it was recently brought to my attention that the biology department is only offering biochemistry in the fall. So I went to talk to the professor and told him my situation and he ask how did I did in my anatomy & physiology(s) (which I made B's in) and he said he would give me an override if I wanted one.

Should I take biochemistry, physics, and chemistry all in one semester? The only other class I would take in the fall is philosophy, as it is only offered in the fall as well.

Any thoughts would be great!

First of all, please read over your post at least once before submitting. Some of what you wrote is gibberish such as the middle of the last sentence, first paragraph.

So, you haven't taken general chemistry yet. Have you taken organic chemistry? Most schools require general chemistry to be completed before you can take organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is a common prerequisite. I would worry about that before considering biochemistry.

Personally, I wouldn't load so many science classes into one semester, especially on top of two prerequisites. I would make sure to do well in those courses (general chemistry II & general physics II).

Sorry that the poor grammar bothered you. I talked to the professor about the organic chemistry prerequisite and he just brushed it off like it was of little importance. Would organic be vital to grasping biochem?

It can be very school dependent. What book they use, what they focus on, etc. While I think you can do Biochem without an Organic class, I think you would be better served to wait until after you have taken Organic.

I meant that organic chemistry is a prerequisite to most, if not all medical schools. You are graduating in the spring of 2015. Do you plan on taking organic chemistry after that?

I am somewhat of a non-traditional student, so yes I'll be taking both after a graduate. Should I just take biochemistry then as well?

If that's the case, then yeah. You don't really need organic chemistry before biochemistry, but it would be better to have at least the first semester of organic out of the way first. It's important to do well in general chemistry and physics. Once you graduate, you'll have that burden off of you.

Okay, I believe that is what I will lean towards doing then, thanks for the input!
