Hi there,
I have just matched to a reputable advanced program in neurology, to start July 2015, but was unable to obtain a preliminary or transitional year in either the main match or the SOAP. I am seeking a pgy1 year in internal medicine or a transitional year to prepare for my neurology advanced position, and am very flexible as to location.
I am a Canadian who went to medical school in Ireland, graduating 2012. My scores are as follows:
USMLE Step 1: 255 (first attempt)
USMLE Step 2: 256 (first attempt)
USMLE CS: Pass (first attempt)
I have 4 letters of reference, 1 from an Irish neurologist, 1 from a Canadian/American-trained neurologist, 2 from Canadian doctors (ICU and pulmonary).
I have no USCE but I do have 2 months of Canadian clinical experience from my electives (ICU and Resp). I have had several Canadian neurology observerships as well.
I will be needing a J1 visa.
Please help me find a 1st year and keep my amazing advanced position! I love medicine and ICU, am a keen learner, a fun work companion, and very dedicated.
Thanks!
