Need serious help choosing a specialty

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hospitalists that make ~150K in academia work 7 on/7 off. In the community/private practice world, hospitalists can make closer to 300K, but they are basically working full time in that case. You can't really go that much higher in hospitalist based medicine unless you are willing to move to a severely underserved community in the middle of nowhere.

Check the IM forum. You can make as much 275-300k doing 7 on/7 off. There are production/RVU bonuses that are factored in later. Granted it won't be in NYC, but it won't be in rural america either. Go to the boonies and you can make more.
