Hi guys,

I was going through the forum and need some advice as to what classes I should take as a freshman for the pre-med track (Bio major btw, and don't know when we decide a minor lol). Orientation is in less than 5 days and I still don't have a clue as to what classes someone going the doctor route should take? any advice on that, or what you took? Plus if you have any other advice at all, pointers, tips about teachers, anything really that would be great too. I could just really use some guidance.

Thanks

Major Required to enter medical School: None. This means you can be an Arts major or Philosophy major and still be competitive.
Classes required to enter medical School: Requirement Classes listed under the medical school's website.
Attend orientation and meet your Advisor. He will give you advice, in most cases.

Your advisor may or may not be helpful. Take the onus on yourself to figure out exactly what you are going to need to do to get into med school. It is good that you are asking questions early. Research it and know it well. The best place to start is by looking at some potential school's websites. This forum is also useful if you can ignore all the extra "conversation".

There are certain classes that you need as pre-reqs. Some of these classes include General Chemistry and Lab, Physics and Lab, Organic Chemistry and Lab, Biology, English, and a few others like math. You can major in whatever you want. I personally became a biology major. I'm glad that I became a bio major because it helped me score well on the bio portion of the MCAT because I took a bunch of upper-level science classes. Major in whatever interests you.
