I'm currently taking pre-calculus and trigonometry (6 hours) in preparation for calculus 1. Is it better to go ahead and complete all math requirements in succession or is it advisable to take breaks (I have to complete calculus 1-3)? I'm doing very well in both courses and believe I'd be fine in terms of remembering the concepts in both courses.

In additon, I start volunteering in a trauma center in a week. It's a level 2 center and serves many counties. What do you think I can expect to see during my time there?

Many people have told me that assertiveness (an appropriate amount) is vital in getting a good experience when volunteering. Because I'm simply a volunteer, I know my duties will be limited but does knowing certain people "enhance" your experience?

Thanks!

Personally, I took all of mine in a row. It can be hard to get back into mathematics and the reasoning required in that field after taking time off. I've had to keep it a priority during MS1 to stay involved in the field and keep up my skills so that I can be ready for my graduate studies.

If possible, try to take them in succession. It will be easier for you to remember previous information that you need for Calc II and III (Calc III sort of brings all of the concepts you've learned into a useful framework for the real world of math). You can get back into the material after time off, but it may require extra time (which cuts into studying/volunteering/research)...
