Hey guys, i need some advice from anyone with experience.

Well, I took orgo 1 back in the spring semester in which the professor decided our final class grade by what we got on the final. So i basically missed half the classes and labs and came to the final and aced it and got an "A" not learning a single thing (basically taught myself). I decided to take microbiology in the summer and hold off orgo 2 for the fall semester. Now i put myself in a messed up situation. Right now for the fall, I'm taking 22 credit hours consisting of orgo2, physics, pre-calc, computer science and psychology. I went to my 1st two orgo 2 classes and am in panic mode. I forgot all the rxns and mechanisms and am trying to go back and learn them all over again. I know i can go back and learn it again, but i am already falling behind and feel very intimidated by other students. I am slowing considering dropping the course with a "w" showing up on my transcript. If i drop by Tuesday, i can get my full tuition refund back. But if i continue and mess up, i will get nothing. Not only that, but i feel that if i do drop orgo2, my course load now only consists of 16 credit hours with pretty weak classes. Should i gut it out (i know i can but at the same time very scared), or should i drop now, get my refund, review orgo 1 over this semester and take orgo 2 next semester at the same time sacrificing a very strong courseload for a pretty weak one? Does physics, pre-calc, psych, and comp sci even look like a solid schedule?

What other activities are you involved in this semester ? Volunteering, work, maybe several EC's ?

If I was you, I would drop the orgo and take it easy this semester. I mean you already have 16 units, that's full time and plenty. You don't really need to take 22 units every single semester in order to appear competent.

Think about the potential devastations, bad grades in Ochem 2 lecture and lab could cause you - you may mess up your GPA and it will look bad as it is one of the essential pre-reqs.

I know plenty of people, that took 12-15 units a semester and still have gotten in.

If it makes you feel any better, I am only taking 10 units this semester while studying for the PCAT. :luck:

Thx for your thoughts. You have some great points. The more i think about it, i am leaning towards withdrawing orgo2. I do work as a pharm tech 16-24 hours a week, and pcats are also coming up right around the corner. I hope i make the right decision.

Whatever you decide, I wish you tons of luck ! :luck:
