  1. Pre-Medical
New here so not sure if I'm posting in the right place. Long story short, I was pre-med in undergrad and changed to business and then to psych. At the end of my senior year I thought about med school again, so I decided to work for a while after I graduated to see if my motivation was real and not just something I talked myself into. I've been working as a FISH analyst in a molecular lab for about a year and a half, and it's really cool. Right now I'm planning on taking a class fall 2017 to get back into the mindset of being back in school. Timing is my concern. I need to fill some reqs and boost my gpa. If anyone has any similar experience or advice on what to do between now and applying to med school, I'd greatly appreciate it!

How much schooling do you have left? I assume you are only going back for the prereqs? What is your gpa?

This is almost identical to my path, except I didn't work as a FISH analyst. I did something completely not related to science for 4 years before starting my post-bacc. I went back only to take pre-reqs (a few less than the average person, as I had taken Gen Bio I and Gen Chem I 7-8 years prior). I'm now in my first year of med school at a well-respected MD program. It can be done!

I've taken both Gen Chems and Gen Bio 1. My GPA is a 3.32

Thanks for your input! I think I'm a little stressed out because I'm eventually going to have to move out of my parent's house and then other bills that come up. Your post helps me realize that things don't have to be done immediately!
