I just applied to 11 schools this past summer and so far have received 7 rejection letters. 🙁 ....I have to register for classes for summer and fall tomorrow and I don't know what to do. I am obviously not going to get in this year but I will apply again this year. So do I retake classes that I have already taken to get a better grade? Or do I take upper level science classes? Or something else? I have pretty much all A's and B's in science/math classes but my PCAT score is horrible. I am too far away from getting my BA/BS so I don't want to do that because I won't finish by next summer. So any advice would be nice!!!

I would personally retake the PCAT - it's true some schools give no consideration to that at all (ie. Cali schools) but some schools really place heavy weight on that --case in point, I got into University of Maryland partly because I met their minimum PCAT score. If you already have good grades I wouldn't worry about taking classes, personally.

Yes I am definitely retaking the PCAT I just don't know what to do about my classes.

If you have a good pre-pharm gpa then I would take some upper division classes to show that you can handle graduate/pharmacy level classes. Def try to put together your application now regarding the PS and arrange with professors to reuse or new LORs, key is to apply early. Show how you have improved your application since the last cycle.

What is your prerequisite GPA? If I was in your position, I would take the summer to study for the PCAT. You can register for the Kaplan's PCAT preparation class or Dr. Collin's PCAT class (if you live in South FL). I heard the Dr. Collin's class really helps, but it will cost you around 1G or so. Then take the PCAT either in Aug. You shouldn't retake your science courses if you have As and Bs in them. You should rather just focus on taking higher level science courses. Also, apply really early in the summer and try to apply to the newer schools if you don't mind moving to a different state.

if you have all As/Bs in your science and math courses do not take any over. Definitely take upper level classes to strengthen your application. It also depends on the school for what they would rather have you do. For example, in my case one school told me to never retake classes because they only look at the first time you took it and to just take upper level to strengthen, while another school told me to DEFINITELY retake all the classes i got a B/B- or less in. Figure out what your top schools are because you can't talk to everyone (they won't say the same thing either) and find out what you can do to strengthen your application. I'm not going to retake classes because I'm not interested in the 2nd school that much so just figure out what is best for you.

Thank you all for your input! I think I will call some of the schools I am interested in the most and see what they suggest.

Good advice-retake the PCAT. 👍 None of my biz, but what schools rejected you? Calif can be a bit strange compared to other places, was accepted there but thought I'd try some paradise on an island. Rains here a lot but no where near the smog/noise. The natives are a bit restless, some want us here-some don't. Stay out of their way and they don't bother you.
