As implied by my name and post title I am confused and would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Spring 2011

Organic Lab W
Calculus 1A
gpa: 2.555 with 11 credits (waiting on grades for 1 more class to put me at 14 credits.
overall gpa: 2.698 with 43 credits.

Other information:
Volunteering: Spend 2 hours every Sunday from September to May teaching a Sunday School Class. Been doing this for 5 years now.
Work: Since college Supermarket as a cashier, Camp Counselor this past summer, and now working at a restaurant.

At this point I have realized it is going to take me a lot of work to get into medical school. I have switched to English so that at least I can have something to fall upon when I graduate college.

I would really like some advice on how I can proceed to be competitive for medical school as I am far from it at the moment.

You might consider retaking any grade below a C-, and any prerequisite which you did not understand well. If you apply to AACOMAS DO schools they will only count the final grade earned (if credit hours were the same or greater) when they calculate your application GPA, allowing for rapid GPA repair. AMCAS, the main MD application service will average in every grade you earn.
