I attended West virginia university. I graduated with a B.S. in exercise physiology. I have a overall GPA of a 3.19 (with PTCAS calculations) and prereq 3.6. GRE scores V 140, Q 148, 3.5 AW. I have over 500 shadowed PT hours (paid and volunteer) and 3 PT references. Last 60 credits GPA is 3.75. Can anyone give me advice on best places to apply to get in this year? I have done research but between participating and non participating, I just want to know what people think from experience! Much appreciated!!!!

It seems like you can apply to any school you want given that your stats meet the general criteria. The best schools to apply to sjk2016 depends really on your preference. Are you considering location, tuition, style of curriculum, the number of decorated professors in the program and clinical rotation offered? All that is on you man! People usually have their top 3 programs. I know you have to have at least one. What is yours?

Most schools require a minimum GRE of 300 (150V, 150Q, 4A.W.), so unless you improve your GRE or apply to schools that do not require a GRE, it's going to be difficult to get accepted by schools. That said, people with lower GRE scores have been accepted to PT programs, so do your research! I can't emphasize this enough.

I definitely think retaking the GRE will benefit you. Many schools like seeing at least 300 combined from both sections. Some have a minimum req. for each section, so you'll have to double check with the schools you have in mind. Honestly, I would print out the list of PTCAS and Non PTCAS schools, cross out ones you don't want to apply to and basically narrow it down to maybe a top 7-10 that you think you'd have a chance at getting into.

Thanks for all the advice. My top three are WVU, Chatham, and really anywhere that would take me. I am worried about the GRE but Ive taken it twice so I think I need to go to a prep class.

Maybe even look into schools that take the highest of both sections attempted. I know personally I'm not the best standardized test taker in the world....took the GRE 5 times....but, I made sure that wherever I applied took the best attempt at both sections.

Thats a good point!! Thanks for all the help!
