Hey everyone,

I am currently in my first semester at a school and I am having personal family issues now which need to be attended to. I do not want to go into much detail or anything, just that it is not something which can be dealt with from long distance. Basically I am thinking of leaving school, I was wondering if doing that hurts my chances of getting back into a school later on if I were to reapply (not the same school of course). Any help would be appreciated.

this probably depends a lot on your individual school. at my school people have had personal issues and were given time off to take care of them. normally they are just asked to take a year off to straighten things out and pick school up where they left off. you should talk to the appropriate individuals in your program and discuss your situation.

Most if not all schools will let you take a leave of absence and allow you to return the following school year. Talk to your dean about your issue and see what they have to say.
