hey guys
I am thinking applying to US schools this June
However, my stats aren't that great and I need some help
I am a Canadian, graduated from UBC
my overall GPA= 3.3 and sGPA= 3.3
I did a 5 year degree, last three year GPA= 3.6
I am a cell biology major, and minored in microbiology
I have many upper level sciences courses, anatomy, pathology, cell physiology, etc
I will probably start a MSc in Sep.

I have some good extra curriculum
Dental mission trip- Peru
Shadow dentist= 1 year (150 hours)
Hospital/ community volunteer/ clubs (over 300 hours)
Working experience (over 200 hours)
Research (over 200 hours)

I took CDAT and is about to take the US DAT as well
Here is my grade for CDAT
19 biol
21 chem
20 RC
19 PAT
22 Carving (i know most US schools don't care about this)

I hope I can get around 21 on US DAT

Finally, my question is,
which schools should I apply with my stat?

Any help appreciated
Thanks in advance

Your test scores are good, and your GPA really isn't that bad. The average accepted GPA is like 3.4 something.

I'm not totally sure at how admissions differ for international students as far as what the adcoms look at, but for the purposes of this post I'll assume they're somewhat similar to normal.

The answer of what schools to apply to is really dependent on how much you're willing to spend. I applied really late so I sent in apps to 23 schools, and got 4 acceptances and 1 Waitlist so far. The way I picked the schools to apply to was all of my instate schools (CA), and then every out of state school that that took more than 40% out of state.

I didn't think my numbers were competitve for Harvard or Columbia, but I applied anyway and actually got an acceptance from Columbia, so don't just completly ignore the more competitive schools, because they might really like something about your application.

Hope that helps.
