Hey guys,
Some of you may know me. I post in the medical school threads. My friend is going into her junior year of college. She has a 2.97 GPA and probably similar science GPA. What should I advise her to do? I assume she is going to bring it up to at least a 3.1 but from my research that puts her at the bottom of the pack. I think she should consider taking a year off to raise that GPA, what say you?

GPA definetely needs to come up. Even at a 3.1, she needs to kill the DAT, volunteer, work as a dental assistant, work at a lab, try to get adopted by Gordon Christensen, and be prepared to fork out lots of money to apply to every school in North America.

Best of luck, there are lots of threads about 3.0-ish applicants.

I have been cruising these threads and it seems with a 3.2 to 3.3 she'll have a shot with 18's and 19's on her DATs. I could be wrong though as I am very new to this. If anyone has information let me know.

With those stats, she will have a shot! Advise her to apply to private schools like NYU, BU, Tufts, Case, and some others... However, if it is true that Dental School is getting increasingly more difficult to matriculate, than she might have to perform in the 20's on her DAT with those GPA's. She probably will want to apply to her state school as well!
