Need some insight..

Ok so im currently enrolled in cell biology but im not putting in the 2 - 3 hours for every 1 hour of lecture they recommend. Basically im drawing structures on notecards and memorizing it like that also reading the book. The teacher said the test will consist of her notes and reading from the book. How should i approach this because its my first time taking a detail orientated class like bio. Also any tips , tricks that helped you get a good grade in cello bio is also helpful.

Whatever is highly emphasized will most likely be the bulk of the exam. Readings are often too in depth and there is simply too much information. Read to try and make some connections, but really focus on the lectures/power points/notes from class. This usually works for me. Once the first Exam comes and goes, you will be able to adjust accordingly as you will then know what it takes to get a good grade in the class.

Yeah she gave us a review but she said she doesn't want students relying to much on the test review 🙁

each prof are different so its hard but this is what i would do:

1) take good class notes, every word for now since you dont know will be on the exam, but you can relax on the note taking afterward once you see what is important and what is not
2) look over the chapter, see what the prof cover and didnt cover
3) review the stuff the prof cover and read those sections in the book (usually they dont test on stuff they didnt cover but you may never know)
4) go to prof office hours if you dont understand

I also find this helpful, although I may not do it IMMEDIATELY after class. I completely retype all of my notes for a given exam time period (usually 3-4 wks of notes) into one giant study guide. I then print this study guide (using the schools paper/ink of course 👍) about a week before the exam and read it 29347120 times. I also highlight things in my packet that don't stick. I also write in random pneumonics that help me remember lists of information. This has worked tremoundously for me in my Biology classes thus far.

Wow... I do the exact same thing... Not even kidding, and I've never encountered someone else who did this. It works though!
