Hey guys,

I asked about this about a month ago, but with the new application cycle opening up, I'm starting to worry and doubt myself.

I applied late last cycle in October with 20/20/21 (TS/AA/PAT) with all other scores about 20-21 (other than QR 17 🙁).
My overall GPA is 3.3 and science GPA is 3.17, BCP about 3.22. I have done undergraduate research, hospital volunteer 240+ hours, dental shadowing 200+ hours, worked as a tutor and guitar instructor during the past year (don't know if this helps...😕).
I only applied to 6 schools last year, 5 of which were in california...

Do you guys think I have a chance this year???
Thanks so much!!

I have pretty similar stats, but I have a bit higher DAT 22/22/21, and applied to 13 schools, got 3 interview, 1 acceptance, 1 waitlist
I would apply to more schools, don't just restrict yourself to schools in Cal
If you have chance, retake DAT, 21+ would help you a lot more
Just some of my suggestions
good luck 🙂

Add some more schools to your list so you can increase your chances. California schools are very competitive. Leave yourself open to a move and you'll get in.

Thanks for the quick responses!! I really appreciate the advice!

hsia2, do you mind me asking what schools you applied to?

Why wouldn't you apply to more schools? I know money is an issue for most of us, but even I know cali schools are very competitive (and I've never been to cali).

I had a 3.3 gpa, 3.2 sgpa, and 19/19/21 DAT. I applied to 14 schools, received 3 interviews, 1 acceptance and 1 waitlist.

My advice.... since you're not rocking a 4.0 like some of these studs on SDN... apply to schools that are more in your range on top of your dream schools. Go ahead and apply to cali schools again, but throw in NYU, BU, Temple, Tufts, and Nova in there.

I was researching NOVA and saw that one of their requirements for LORs is a letter from a liberal arts professor??😕

Is that strictly enforced???
