Ok guys I am a high school senior. I wanted to be a surgeon, but now my sights are set on pharmacy. What is the classwork like? Do you like it?Anything relative would be great. I'm trying to decide if this right for me. Thanks!

Have you explored the pharmacy setting at all ? Perhaps, shadowing a pharmacist or volunteering at a hospital pharmacy will help.

I once wanted to be a surgeon too - working with cadavers this semester during the anatomy lab, spending hours dissecting them has been very traumatizing and disturbing and I am now more sure than ever that I could never be a surgeon. Perhaps, this is an alternative route you could take - I don't know how but maybe there is some kind of a route for you to either visit an anatomy lab or explore surgery more.

How is it thus far?

You mean academically ? or personally ?

Academically, I finished one BS and 2 classes away from a second major. Personally, I am incredibly stressed out from applying. I've been so stressed out this past week I haven't eaten much of anything.

Both.

Im applying to two good pharmacy schools in Ohio(Ohio Northern and Findlay). They have the 0-6 programs I believe

The pre-reqs you would take for med school and pharm school are pretty much the same. The exact ones depend on the school.

Here's a list of some classes you pretty much will have to take for either:
General Chemistry + Lab (2 semesters)
Organic Chemistry + Lab (2 semesters)
General Biology + Lab (2 semesters)
Physics + Lab (1-2 semesters)
Calculus
English

These ones kinda vary more:
Economics
Speech
Psychology
Sociology
Microbiology
Anatomy and Physiology (2 semesters)
Biochemistry
Molecular or Cell Biology
Other General Education Classes or Upper Division Science Classes

My impressions about pharm school and med school courses is that you sort of split your time between more core science and applying that knowledge, so actual patient counseling and diagnosis type classes.

Look at the FAQS here. Get some experience in both. Think about other factors that are important to you, like required training time, salaries, free time, etc.

Do you have much time outside of academics?

Yeah I do. You have to find the balance for yourself. Some people will spend a lot of time studying, some not so much. It depends on your learning and the priorities you set. Some semesters will be worse than others because of certain classes.

undergrad classes is a drag especially if you are a bio major (pretty much standard degree for pre-med, pre-pharm, pre-dent). Its not hard material, its just alot of material, and combined with your adolescent needs to socialize, causes alot of people to not live up to their full potential.

If you make it into pharmacy school, med school, or dentistry, you pretty much have your studying habits down, so you can learn more efficiently than you were in undergrad, but the subject doesn't get easier, nor does the pace.

Basically, I hate bio/chem, but I'm good at it, and I want to be a pharmacist.

In terms of social life, it depends on how well you understand the material.
